Names Blown Past

Really, there’s no need for light. Better to leave the curtain tangled. If that bulge in the middle seems to ripple, call it the wind. If the wind calls, listen. When it skulks by tinged in frost, it cries Mary. Screams Mary.

Honored to be chosen Editor's Pick by Rowan for this challenge : )

  1. Isn't the wind supposed to be called "Mariah"?

(No, wait, that's a lyric from Oklahoma, sorry). Like the tale!

  4. Are you channeling your inner Hendrix? If not I totally did! :) Great way to end your piece. I love the tone you set. You definitely had me at the first two sentences.

  5. I love this! It has a sort of fear-of-monsters-under-the-bed (or, you know, behind the curtain) thing happening, mixed with Hendrix, kind of like the narrator is singing a tune to take his/her mind off the fear.

    1. So glad to hear this. I wasn't sure if she was trying to ward fear off or call it in...
