Maybe if I slip some doctor in his drink.
Maybe if you what? Are you still going on about that jerk?
I was just wondering if I could make up some Bach flowers – maybe some Walnut
and Wild Oat to predispose him towards me. Tell him it’s a vitamin drop.
Maura, please tell me you’re just trying to annoy me. You aren’t
serious, are you? Right now he’s just a douche. You don’t want him to think you’re
psycho, do you?
Maybe I am psycho. Maybe he makes me psycho.
Maura, honest to god, I don’t know why you’re mooning over him – pass me
a napkin, would ya? You could do so much better.
What’s better? I love listening to him talk. He knows so many stories
about the history of this neighborhood, the politics behind street names, the
skinny on the public statues, all the political scandals. It’s fascinating.
Fascinating, huh? He sounds like he’s full of hot air.
What time is it?
We just have time for a quick smoke. Hey, are you on again tomorrow?
Yup. I’m on all week. I wanna try to get in some overtime this month.
Why don’t you mix me up a potion that will make me rich? Just slip it in
my coffee?
Ha! I wish. You want me to make up a remedy for you, Kath? I can, you know.
Maybe some Olive for energy? I think Cherry Plum is supposed to make your
dreams really vivid.
Vivid, huh? I wouldn’t mind some vivid dreams I guess. Don’t tell me
though, okay, just slip it in when I’m not looking.
Sure. That way I can practice my moves. Won’t have to tell him they’re
vitamins. Won’t have to tell him anything at all.
Maura, I swear to god!
C’mon, we’re gonna be late!
This week is asking us to use DOCTOR (noun) 3 a : material added (as to food) to produce a desired effect
No more Cherry Plum for me then... I wonder if she achieves her aim...
ReplyDeleteYour dreams are vivid enough for you? lol Thanks for reading, Rosalind!
Deletemmnn the Cherry Plum sounds interesting. lol reminds me of when my friend handed me a piece of paper with an incantation that i was supposed to recite over food and give to my boyfriend then so we'll be together forever. so glad i didn't do it. LOL she did though. and they broke up in a year or so hehe
ReplyDeleteTogether forever... I've said it before and I'll say it again: be careful what you wish for. The little rituals can be fun, and informative, though. Thanks for reading, kz!
DeleteThis is great kymm - funny and terrific dialog - very real. I live in a town with 2 herb shops that will concoct a combination for whatever ails you. So it all made sense to me.. :)
ReplyDeleteSo glad you liked it, Steph, thanks! I actually do use Bach remedies on occasion. Then again, I've been known to throw Tarot cards, too. Whatever helps!
DeleteA fun dialogue piece. I'd love to read more from Kath and Maura.
ReplyDeleteHappy that it was fun. They seem to have materialized with this doctoring thing. Thanks, Tara!
DeleteI'll have to remember the cherry plum. I like vivid dreams. Get my best story ideas from them (:
ReplyDeleteUnless you want me to find something for those elusive, erotic dreams, Draug! lol
DeleteThe whole piece has a dreamy, wistful tinge that I love. And yes, cherry plum for vivid dreams ;)
ReplyDeleteAnything to make the workweek more entertaining. Thanks, Rashmi!
Deletethe prompt in the first line... I love it! I'm wild to know where those two work.
ReplyDeleteI really NEEDED to get it out of the way! Maybe I shouldn't admit to it, but I had them working as checkout girls. Of course, you can give them jobs wherever you want.
DeleteThanks for the love, Ted!
"Maybe he makes me psycho." Love that! Excellent dialogue and a fun story.
ReplyDeleteAlways glad for the love, Bee. Thank you!
DeleteI love this. Great dialogue and I hate to admit it, but I can identify with Maura.
ReplyDeleteEmbrace your inner Maura, lumdog! Thanks for the love!
Deletei love the dialogue. i feel like this could almost be a crazy conversation a friend and i would have, though we wouldn't be quite so serious about the love potion cosmo having a realistic effect. haha
ReplyDeleteMore love! Yeah, the only part that was hard about it was the "doctor" bit.
DeleteThanks, Renada! So glad to have you back!
The banter between these two was entertaining. Reminds me a bit of teen conversations when one of us couldn't stop talking about the latest guy we were obsessed with...except we didn't think of potions and spells :)
ReplyDeleteDo these conversations ever stop? Glad for having entertained. Thanks, Janna!
DeleteLoved this conversation - so fun and realistic. Please can I have some Olive for energy?
ReplyDeleteOne Olive potion comin up! Thanks for the love, Sarah!
DeleteHeee:D,you doctored it well Kymm;-)Enjoyed the kidding the two ladies engaged in-must be an interesting life with so many possibilities -with or without those "vivid" dreams, lol!
ReplyDeleteGlad you enjoyed it. Thanks so much, Atreyee!
