A grey sky breaks
silver, scratches pink wounds
to bleed over the ocean side
of the rock that holds you
to her. Crash and break of words,
chattering bubbles that trickle
back into the crevice
of her deep devotion, her
platonic love.
Very evocative scene here, Kymn! "Crash and break of words" my favorite phrase.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, Rachna! And thanks for picking out a favorite : )
DeleteThe imagery was fanastic! "Platonic love"? Seemed like more!!!
ReplyDeleteSo glad you liked it, Gina, thank you! Doesn't it always seem like more...?
DeleteThe sea is a fickle mistress.
ReplyDeleteYou speak the truth, Thom! : )
DeleteI like how densely packed this is with vivid images.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you like it, Marcy, thank you!
DeleteI loved this! The double meaning of your title... the colors and words like "scratches" and "chattering bubbles that trickle back" just elicit such imagery. I can't explain it right (need a break from this computer screen!) but it was wonderful.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for the love, Candace! I always love hearing what phrases catch people's imaginations.
DeleteI'm secretly pleased it elicited something inexplicable : )
Love how you roped in all of the colors and the chattering bubbles into something as sad as unrequited love, Kymm. Very unique answer.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the love, Nate! With these micros, it's often hard to know where you'll end up, isn't it?
DeleteSuch beautiful images. Love 'chattering bubbles that trickle'. I can see someone clinging to the rock as the sea crashes against them and yet I feel this so well captures the ending of a relationship too.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for the love, Sarah Ann! I appreciate your letting me know what works for you, too : )
DeleteThank you so much, Renada! I love seeing you here, and having you like my visceral is truly humbling : )
