Elephant Opera Company

Always loud - coming or going -

we could not get rid of them fast enough.

Neither fashionable nor punctual

- unwieldy, spectacular, lumbering -

they ate up all the adornments

that kept us safely disguised

and then would not leave until

the fat lady sang.

  2. What a perfect ending. (I just saw the fat lady in Stacie's entry too. Great minds...)

  3. Nicely done Kymm. I really enjoyed this one particularly the bit about eating our disguises. So true!

  4. At the risk of duplicating the comment I tried to post a moment ago, I must say I love this. So brilliant, title to finish.

    1. So glad you liked it. To me, that's what elephants end up doing if you don't shoo them off. Pluck away at your mask.
      Thank you, Jen!

  6. Your opening lines set up such a picture. I think I'd like to see this opera company - sometimes we need to come out from behind our adornments.

    1. Ah, glad they hooked you. Thank you, Sarah Ann! No, I do not believe you would like to see this opera company.
Leaving the adornments behind, that's exactly how to avoid the stampede... lol

  7. Oh, thanks for the love, Renada! Yeah, I was stumped for a while on how to approach it. Poetry helps : )

  8. I'm going to repeat what many others have said but I, too, very much liked the title and the adornments line...and of course, the fat lady singing. Wonderful!
