Waterways

Despite all her trepidation, the jump was exhilarating; a shock of water that tugged at her, pulling her down. She let herself sink. When she did kick out, her ankle met an unmoored figurehead, perhaps, adrift in the undercurrent of the creek.

  1. Well, you 'hope' it is an unmoved figurehead...this was terrific!

  2. Yes, that's what I hope too, otherwise, this would be an excellent opening scene for an episode of "NCIS" !

  3. A great "creepy" factor in this piece. Makes me want to stay away from creeks and rivers.

  8. Beautiful imagery as ever. I'm left wondering where that figurehead has floated from (and, because I'm too literal, that her toes must be throbbing.)

    1. Oh, thank you for that, Sarah Ann!
We're not going to think about the 'figurehead' anymore, and her toes were cringing, not throbbing. He he he .
