Sunday morning’s forecast
promised lightning, droning rain.
I drew back the curtain
with hard-clutched book, to no avail.
Double-crossing weather channel!
Sunshine! Blue skies!
Wherefore art thou washing machine?
Scrubbrush? Mop and pail?
wants a 33-word example of an apostrophe.

Those meteorologists are conspiring against us!
ReplyDeleteIt's like they do it on purpose!
DeleteAlready had a few giggles this week and here is another! Good one Kymm.
ReplyDeleteGlad it gave you the giggles. Thanks, Paul!
DeleteThose meteorologists need to be held accountable...
ReplyDeleteDamn that nice weather;)
This made me giggle too, Kymm!
The downside to Barcelona... all this nice weather haha
DeleteHappy about the giggle. Thanks, Valerie!
I say close the curtains and read the book anyway :)
ReplyDeleteWe'll see what the Health Department says :{
DeleteOh I loved this, mostly because I have wanted a stormy Saturday, a day to just lounge and sit, study my cuticles or nap in between my naps. I always feel so betrayed when the blue skies show up. ;)
ReplyDeleteHaha you and me both, Kir. Thanks for the love!
DeleteGet back in bed curled up with your book! They hardly get the forecast right. Frustrating!
ReplyDeleteEnd up doing neither. Sitting by the window of blue blue sky, surfing the blogs!
DeleteFunny. Read anyway.
ReplyDeleteThanks, LaTonya! Glad you enjoyed it.
DeleteThe weeds are calling...
Now you can be sure it will rain. The minute I put out clothes to dry, it pours!
ReplyDeleteRight?!?!?!?!?
Deletelol Thanks for the visit, Sini!
This one made me laugh out loud! How I hate the scrubbrush, mop and pail when I got an interesting book to read! Not to mention the weather playing spoilsport. Good one, Kymm.
ReplyDeleteSo happy for the laugh.
DeleteI have a visceral aversion to cleanliness in general, I think.
Thanks, SD!
haha - this takes complaining about the weather to a whole new level. ♥
ReplyDeletelol Oh, just try me. I can whine about anything!
DeleteThanks for the ♥ grandmalin!
Haha! What I'd do for a nice rainy day. I like!
ReplyDeleteSo glad you liked it. Thanks, tinypurple!
DeleteGood one, kymm. Very funny. Living in northern CA I almost never can use that excuse with 320+ days of sun and no rain. But, I'm not complaining. Though admittedly I don't clean very often. :)
ReplyDeleteCA, Barcelona, pretty similar I think. Did I mention cleaning? So sorry.
DeleteHaha. Thanks, Steph!
That Carpe Diem that always force us to go up an DO something can be very stressful. I lived four months in Southern California once, and it drew me crazy... I craved rain.. and just before I left... it came.. I went out on the balcony and danced.
ReplyDeleteHaha Every August on vacation I manage to catch a day that just pours, and I go out and dance in it.
DeleteI grew up in New England, where we had to be outside if the sun was out, whether it was well below zero or above body temperature. Stays with a girl.
You might need to move to Seattle then?? Nice writing, fun use of the prompt.
ReplyDeletebest,
MOV
Naw, I grew up in New England. Been there, done that. lol
DeleteGlad you enjoyed it! Thanks, MOV!
:) Damn weather channel! Wish we had some sun, as my entry shows.
ReplyDeleteI did notice the symmetry. I'm telepathing you some sun!
DeleteThese days it takes a hurricane in the Gulf for us to get any measurable rain, so I can relate!
ReplyDeleteYeah, gotta be careful what you wish for, also!
DeleteAppreciate the visit, Tina!
Ha!Ha!Kymm, you are spot on!I thought it's only in our country we have such crazy predictions by the met dept but it seems it is prevalent everywhere else:-)
ReplyDeleteYou can't trust those weather people anywhere... lol
DeleteThanks, Atreyee!
Ugh! There's nothing worse than beautiful, clear skies when you want an excuse to laze around. This made me smile. Great take on the prompt!
ReplyDeleteRight?!?!?!
DeleteHappy about the smile. Thanks, Ivy!
Love this! A really fun read.
ReplyDeleteSo glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for the love, momo!
DeleteThank you so much, Jo-Anne! Glad you enjoyed it.
ReplyDeleteLoved the droning rain. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the love, Anja!
DeleteWhat a nice change-up, hoping for a rainy read-in day and getting the opposite! Great work!
ReplyDeleteThank you for linking up!
The difference between youth and after-youth?? Thanks, Tri!
DeleteI used to fly Cessnas and weather always double crossed me :P, since then I never believe the numbers on TV but I prefer to read between the winds. :) Great entry, Kymm.
ReplyDeleteI used to sail, and retain a bit of the weather eye, but city living nullifies much of it.
DeleteThanks so much, TIZ!
You never get what you want or what you expect and the weather peeps can't seem to give us anything reliable.
ReplyDeleteIt's just one disappointment after another...
Deletelol Thanks for the visit, Debbie!
Love that you're longing for the nasty weather. But sometimes it is just what we want, cuddle time on the couch with a good book!
ReplyDeleteThe only good reason to look forward to winter! Thanks, Mel!
